History of the Chester Lions Club:
The Chester Lions Club was sponsored by the Weirton Lions Club in the summer of 1947. We recieved
our charter on September 18, 1947. The first officers of the club was President Smith Cottrill, Secretary Clifton Huff, and
Treasurer Kenneth Kimmble. There were 32 members at the time the club was chartered. Clifton Huff is our only Charter Member
still in the club, and he is still active.
Our club has been honored to have two members serve as District Governor
of 29-L. Walter L. Jordan served the term of 1964-65 and Sayre W. Graham served the term of 1977-78.
